One Day Late, But Right on Time: Acceptance & Moving Forward (My Day 1 Of The Ultimate Blog Challenge)

ree

This week did not go the way I planned. Something happened that required me to drop everything and address an emergency situation. I can't share the details, but things are okay now.

I was excited about the October Ultimate Blog Challenge and then life happened and I was not able to participate on day 1. Today is day 2 of the challenge, but I am deciding to make it my day 1 and to show up the rest of the month.

There have been many times I have self-sabotaged myself because I wasn't "perfect" or things didn't go the way I planned. I am working on improving this part of myself. This typically happens for me with eating habits, exercise, and business offerings.

I can be motivated and doing well. Then something stressful happens, my need for soothing my emotions with food gets activated and I give in. Then I tell myself that since I messed up, I might as well finish out the day or even week eating what I want. That I will do better next time.

Sometimes I get into phases where I exercise 3-5 times a week. I was doing well with this at one point and completely got derailed. A lot of stressful things happened over the summer and I just can't seem to get myself to the gym more than once a week (if that sometimes).

With my business, my motivation also ebbs and flows. If I share an offering or content that didn't go the way I planned, by ability to show up consistently can get thwarted.

In July I showed up and posted every day of the blog challenge. My intentions then were to show up consistently and no longer hide. I was successful. It was super hard some days, but I did it!

I wasn't sure what my theme this month would be. As I write this post, it has revealed itself. My theme for this month is going to be around self-sabotage. Picking up where I am and not letting perfection be a thief of progress. I will share more candidly about this throughout the month.

I also have done some great interviews on my YouTube channel that I haven't added to my blog yet. I plan to share those, as well as recipes, and other content I feel like sharing.

My goal is to show up every day for the rest of October. If I need to miss a day or two (or more) I am going to be kind to myself and not allow myself to be derailed. I will pick up where I left off and go from there.

What are your experiences with self-sabotage? How have you overcome them?
