The Simple Joy of Snack Plates

Today is Day 13 of The July Ultimate Blog Challenge. I wasn't sure what I was going to post. After a very stressful first half of the day, I felt like making my afternoon snack plate. This one has a sliced apple, roasted red pepper hummus, and some seed crackers. Every afternoon I usually make myself some kind of snack plate, with mostly healthy items on it. Sometimes I will add a little chocolate for a little added sweet treat, to curb my cravings.
Snack plates have been a form of comfort since I can remember. My mom used to make them for me when I was little. I remember watching TV nibbling away on a plate of assorted cut up fruit, crackers, and celery with peanut butter. Having a plate with assorted items on it always feels satisfying to me. We also eat with our eyes. Seeing a variety of colorful items on our plate can help us feel like we are eating something exciting. I also like to feel like I am eating a lot of something. Slicing up an apple and other fruit, helps me fulfill that.
When my son was in elementary school, we had a Friday night tradition of making snack plates and watching movies. I would buy paper plates that were shaped like animals that would be used special for the occasion. We still like to throw together snack plates before watching a movie.
Sometimes I like to treat myself and get some vegan cheese. A couple of week's ago I treated myself to some creamy scallion cheese from Treeline Cheesemakers. I looooooove Treeline! Some of their cheese products are oil free too! I also purchased some Unreal Dark Chocolate Peanut Gems. I added some grapes and Mary's Gone Crackers and had myself a tasty plate during a Zoom meeting at work (off camera haha). See the photo below.

Looks like a very appetizing snack plate! I like making snack plates with fruit, nuts, cheese and I love multi grain crackers. It doesn't seem like much but its delicious and filling. I too was scratching my head for a topic today, I just posted! Some days are just like that. LOL
I've never thought of it as snack plates. Cheese and crackers with some grapes. Or cottage cheese, cherry tomatoes, and some fruit.
