Some Of My Memories From 2016

The latest social media trend has been sharing pictures from 2016. It is crazy that that is 10 years ago now! I am not usually one to join in on social media trends, but I felt this one would make a nice blog post. After watching a news story this morning, I looked up my photos from 2016. It was really nice revisiting those old memories and seeing how young our kids were then. They are all now in their early 20s.

Reflecting on this time also reminded me of how much growth I have experienced both personally and professionally. Here are some highlights I wanted to share.

I saw three concerts in 2016

Duran Duran (my husband is a big fan). We saw them at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Radical Face (my son and I are big fans). It was my son's first concert. My husband joined us. This was somewhere in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY.

We go a setlist after the show. (I took this picture today because I didn't have a photo of it from 2016)

The Lumineers at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn, NY. My son and I got there early and waited in line for a long time so we could be up front. Neyla Pekarek (who was the cellist at the time) saw Joseph in the front and had security hand him her setlist after the show. It was a sweet moment!

Here are some other special moments.

2016 was also the year I started a 10 month long coaching program, formed my LLC, and started to take more serious actions steps towards becoming a vegan. (I fully committed April, 29 2017).

What are some of your favorite memories from 2016. Let me know in the comments.

Jennifer Shlomovich is a Plant-Powered Lifestyle-Educator on a mission to help others improve their health by eating more plants.. As the only vegan in her household, she knows firsthand how challenging it can be to stay true to your values when the people around you aren’t on the same path. For years, she put everyone else’s needs ahead of her own, but through her journey, she discovered the power of setting boundaries, living by her values, and confidently prioritizing her well-being. On her YouTube channel, The Confident Vegan, she shares inspiring interviews, practical tips, and empowering conversations about what it really means to live in alignment with your values. She is also the co-host of That Vegan Morning Show with Kimberly Winters of the Did You Bring The Hummus podcast.

What a cool post for remembering 10 years ago! Your son is so handsome at 11 years old, you have to write another blog showing him 10 years later! How fun to go to all those great concerts.

Wow, 2016... let me think. There was my daughter's graduation from her Masters program at TCNJ.

And a huge Thanksgiving celebration with Helene's relatives.

And a great trip to CA to see friends and relatives.

What fun memories!

My oldest granddaughters were in high-school, and on the dance team, so I watched them at several games.

I graduated from a 9 month intentional art teacher training in 2015, so had begun offering my monthly creative circles at a local studio, and had a show that fall in a local winery. (Now the circles are bimonthly, and virtual!)

We were 7 years into being gluten free, so knowing what to avoid was easier!

Our wonderful new pastor, Erika Marksbury, had come, and brought her young family (Oscar will stay college in fall!) ....

My youngest grands were in playschool, and I was our family volunteer, going in~ weekly, some we had 2 in the program! We…

Seeing these moments together really highlights how much can grow from one year—personally, professionally, and as a family. 2016 doesn’t stand out much for me, except that it was my son’s last year of hockey school. The calm before it all shifted.
