I recently had the opportunity to interview Dawn Hutchins, who is the Director of Plant-Based Nutrition at Central Garden & Pet. She holds certificates in plant-based nutrition and nutritional therapy with a focus on epigenetics, and she is also a trained plant-based chef. Dawn is the founder of VegeCooking, where she teaches moms and families how to cook plant-based meals that support weight loss, vitality, and long-term health.
We discuss:
❇️ Health transformations from eating whole-food plant-based
❇️ How our journeys to whole-food plant based lead to being committed vegans
❇️ Tips for transitioning to a whole-food plant-based lifestyle
I am very passionate about whole-food plant-based eating. With heart disease and diabetes in my family, I have found it an important foundation to build my eating habits from. Not only has this way of eating been scientifically proven to be the healthiest, it also has taught me how to make delicious food without feeling deprived.

Now, she helps busy women simplify plant-based living so they can improve their health, save time, and feel supported—even if their family isn’t on board. On her YouTube channel, The Confident Vegan, she shares inspiring interviews, practical tips, and empowering conversations about what it really means to live in alignment with your values. I love healthier recipes for comfort foods. Thank you.
Lovely to see and hear you Jennifer. Interesting interview as I am interested in growing my own food and epigenetics.
I am in the process of transitioning to much better eating habits. With my husband and grown son, it's hard to go completely meatless in our home, but I am trying to incorporate other foods with meals and offer less meat. :)
It always excites me to see people whose passion is in sharing about veggie eatin'! There is so much health and vibrance available in eating an either vegetarian, vegan, or even largely reducing meat consumption lifestyle. Great tips!
