A Little Nostalgia, a Lot of Joy: A Very Special "Me Day"

Once in awhile I like to have a "Me Day" where I get to do something special just for me. I thought for today's Ultimate Blog Challenge post I would share about a recent "Me Day" that I had.
Last month one of my favorite people from the 90's, Melissa Auf der Mauer was doing a talk about her newly released book "My 90's Rock Photographs". I absolutely love her and enjoyed every moment of her memoir "Even The Good Girls Will Cry" (released earlier this year). Melissa was the bassist of the band Hole and at one point the Smashing Pumpkins. She has a fascinating story about how she was swept up into the 90s music scene. I highly recommend checking out both of her books. Especially if you love the 90s music scene.
I left early and took the 90 minute train ride into Grand Central Station. I walked around and ate good food. I stopped at one of my favorite restaurants, Franchia Vegan Cafe. I have brought non-vegan friends here who have loved the food. If you are ever in NYC, I highly recommend checking this place out.
It was also the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I spent some time reflecting and journaling. It's hard to believe how much time has passed. It always amazed me to see how much the city has recovered from that horrific day.
I got in line early at Strand to make sure I got a good spot. I was first in line. There was no one else around and I wanted to make sure I was in the right spot. I went back into the store to ask someone. I also wanted to visit the bathroom one more time before the long wait. When I got back outside to wait in line one other person was there. We started talking and had a lovely chat about the 90s and life after then. My line friend was also named Jennifer. About 30 minutes later or so, more people started lining up.
Once we were let in for the event, me and the other Jennifer were able to snag perfect seats that were front and center. We also received our signed copies of the book.
It was a wonderful day that I got to spend with myself, reflect, eat good food, shop and even make a new friend along the way.
Here are some photos from that day.

Lovely photo of you. Definitely a good idea to have a Me Day. I enjoy book launches, too. What a wonderful way to celebrate yourself with good food and meeting a new friend.
